Taiwan 6 Days 5 Nights Trip (Day 5)

Second last day of our trip, we went Ding Tai Feng @ Taipei 101 for brunch. As usual, there was a long queue but it moved pretty fast. Ding Tai Feng is doing really well. There is always queue for every branch in Singapore. Anyway, it’s a must for us to eat at Ding Tai Feng when we are in Taiwan. Why? Because it’s cheap and it’s good. Though it’s good, we ordered only few dishes (2 mains, 2 sides). More than enough to fill our stomach because we are small eater 😀

We had a hard time deciding where to go after brunch. We had been up to the observatory on our previous trip. Sad to mentioned that we didn’t get to head outdoor due to bad weather condition. At least, we had a bird eye view from indoor. If you are planning to go up there, please check the weather else you will end up like us!

We had lots of time to spare. I suggested going down to the basement to have a look. At basement 1, they sell quite a number of Taiwan Snacks (eg. Pork Floss, Pineapple Cakes, etc) I bought 2 boxes of pineapple cake home. I’m not too sure if it’s good because it wasn’t for myself. Next, we went for a walk in Taipei 101 shopping mall that carry mostly all luxury goods. Oh, now I remembered why we went there. It’s because my fiance wanted to check out a LV bag pack. The bag was available but Taiwan is selling at a higher price comparing it to Singapore. If I didn’t remember wrongly, it’s about 200 difference. Of cause, he didn’t buy.

Taipei 101 carries many other brand except Chanel ready wear. Over at Taipei 101, they only sell watches. We went to ask the sales person and she led us to the nearest branch. It was near but not very near. I can’t remember if we walked there or took a train. Anyway, the nearest Chanel ready wear store is located near Shinkong Mitsukoshi (新光三越), a departmental store. Disappointingly, they carry limited Chanel belts. Empty handed! Walked around the area and we found a famous cafe called the Dazzling Cafe. We heard people talking about it but didn’t have the chance to give it a try.

There was no queue outside the cafe. So, we went in to ask for seat. Apparently, there’s a waiting list. Cafe is like a hype in Asian country. Really. Ok, not too long. We waited for about 15 minutes before we got seated. We were feeling rather full so we decided to order only one signature thick toast and one drink. But they have this policy that everyone has to order a cup of drink. -_- Fine. So we ordered 2 drinks and one thick toast.

I thought the thick toast was of an average taste. Nothing to special. After trying After You in Bangkok, you will know why I said so. Haha. We took our time to finish up the food.

It was almost time to go Shilin Night Market. Walked out of that area to take a train. Shilin Night Market is one of the famous night market. Besides Shilin, there’s another one called Rouhe night market. Comparing to Rouhe Night Market, Shilin is bigger and more crowded. It’s so big that I can’t remember where I have walked. Walking blindly haha. In Shilin Night Market, we ate again. Omgosh, we ate the whole day. Street food is enough. There’s no need for a proper dinner. Oh yes, there are certain food you must try.

Guan Chai Ban located at the basement eatery area. This is really good. It’s toasted bread stuffed with meat and some starchy soup. There used to be a lot of people the first time we went. But this time round, it was quite empty.

Honey Fried Chicken located right at the back of Shilin night market. I thought it tasted better than the Hao Da Da Ji Pa.

Not only does Xi Men Ding has Ah Zhong Mian Xian, you can find it in Shilin Night Market too. But the sitting area is very limited.

And other food we ate! That’s the end of my eating day!
