Christmas 2013, I left my love and went on travel with my family, my brother in law and his family to Gold Coast Australia. Luckily, my flight was at 8:50 pm. Or else, my boy would end up having a lonely Christmas and I would feel really bad. Anyway, we travelled by Quantas Airline and the travelling time from Singapore to Brisbane was 7 hours 35 minutes. Quantas plane was pretty spacious and the meal served was pretty good comparing it to other airlines. On the down side, I felt that some of the staff were pretty rude. Well, that didn’t spoil my holiday mood.
At 6:25 am Brisbane time, we touched down. Stopover at the Airport for a while to settle car rental and SIM card. For data only SIM, it cost about AUD 29.90 unlimited for 7 days if I am not wrong. You can check out at the airport. The SIM card store is very prominent. Hence, you won’t miss it.
Driving duration from Brisbane to Gold Coast was about an hour 15 mins. Thanks to my brother in law that we were able to sleep in peace. It was a van that he was driving.
Very quickly, we arrived at our apartment @ Surfers Paradise. Kate, the owner came to open the gate for us and brought us through the apartment. Kate, herself does not stay in the apartment but she stays somewhere near. Kate’s apartment was really really beautiful. It looked exactly the same as the photos that she has posted in Airbnb. I felt really homely and welcomed.
There’s a total of 4 rooms in Kate’s apartment. And what other good things about this apartment? It has got everything in place. You name it she has it. She even has a dish washer and she told use “Do not wash any plates manually when you are on a holiday. Let the machine do it”. Awesome isn’t it? Let me bring you through the apartment and you will know what I mean.
And she’s Kate, the owner.
You got to agree it’s lovely. (: All thanks to my brother in law’s mum who found this apartment.
This was a total relax trip. By the time we settled down, it was about 1 ish and that’s when our stomach started to groan. First destination of the trip was Pacific Fair. It’s a big shopping mall that sells a variety of stuff. First time there, no idea what to eat for lunch. When that happens, the best place is food court. Yes, we went to the food court. I barely remember what we ordered. Maybe a beef burger? Apparently, the food court food weren’t that nice and it’s expensive. Energy re-charged after meal for shopping (:
Since we have had a big group of people and the meals were pretty expensive, my dad decided to be the master chef of this trip. We head off to Target, a supermarket, near our apartment to do some groceries shopping. We bought lots of stuff there were enough to last for 2-3 days.
The Master’s Chef
Home cooked food is always the best. Thanks Daddy for the effort. I never failed to fall in love with your food.
My dad loves fishing. He knew that there’s many places that he can fish in Gold Coast. So, he brought along his fishing rod. Yes, it was put in use on the first day. He just couldn’t resist the temptation when there’s a ‘river’ right outside our apartment. We accompanied him outside while he fish. What a good daughter. Just kidding. Haha
That’s about it for Day 1. Goodnight (:
