2 days ago, my friend and I went to Batam for a really short holiday. That was my very first time going to Batam. We took the 0800AM(Singapore time) ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and arrived at Nongsa Ferry Terminal (Batam) at 0740AM (Indonesia time). The journey was about 40-45 minutes. If you are taking ferry from Habour Front Ferry Terminal, the journey would be approximately an hour. When we arrived at Batam, we headed to Nongsa Resort Counter which was located right in front of the arrival hall to arrange for our return timing and shuttle service to Turi Beach Resort. It’s a very simple process because what we did was to hand the ferry printout slip to the counter staff and he arranged everything for us. The travelling time from Nongsa Ferry Terminal to Turi Beach Resort was only 5 minutes.

Upon reaching Turi Beach Resort, we headed to the lobby counter to settle that administrative stuff. While waiting to be served, we were served with a glass of Ginger tea. I don’t like ginger -_- But still, plus points to their service.

Our plan for the first day was to go for a city tour. We booked the city tour through email from Turi Beach Resort since we stayed there. It’s more convenient for us. On the itinerary, it states that we have to be in the lobby at 0815AM. We were there at 0815AM but the tour van had yet to arrive. It only arrived at 0850AM and it’s not the actual tour van that we were supposed to be in. The van was only here to fetch us to the Chocolate House to wait for the rest to arrive. We were told that the ferry, which the others took, would only arrived at 9AM. The first part of the tour was all about waiting. We were kinda pissed off. Their time management was damn bad.
Anyway, the first stop of the tour was Chocolate House. I think the price of the chocolates is lower than the one in Singapore. We weren’t a chocolate lover so we didn’t get any from the store. Furthermore, there’s nothing special about their chocolates. With the remaining time, we stood outside to wait for our tour guide to arrive. We waited for about 30 minutes >.<
The second stop was Toa Pek Kong Chinese Temple. It’s just a normal temple, nothing fanciful. We walked around to take photos and prayed. It took us 10 minutes to tour and return back to the van to wait for the rest.
The third stop was Polo Ralph Lauren. Polo Ralph Lauren looks exactly like Ralph Lauren. Are they the same? The price is 40% off the price seen in Singapore. Yes, it’s cheaper but not interested. We shopped very quickly and returned back to the van.

The fourth stop was Diana Layer Cake. It’s a shop house selling Kueh Lapis. We were given samples to try. There’s 2 different flavours, original and prune. The original was selling at the price of $25 and the prune was selling at $29. We ordered 2 prunes from the tour guide. The layer cakes were baked upon order. Our cakes were collected at the end of the tour.

The fifth stop was Golden shop that sells prawn crackers. Indonesia is famous for prawn crackers and so we bought 6 packets in total. If you head there with tour, you will get a 20% off the total price. The average price of the ready made crackers was 30,000 Rupiah. Not too expensive.
Finally, it’s lunch time. We had lunch at the Golden Prawn located right beside the Golden shop. It’s included in the tour package. In total, there were about 6-7 dishes. The food was generally not bad but it’s a bit cold and the fish was a bit too hard. Drink were included in the lunch as well. We ordered coconut. If you ever go there with tour, I would advise you not to order coconut because it tasted sour and there’s no flesh at all. But if you paid for it, maybe they will give you a better coconut.
The sixth stop was Miniature House and Outlet store. They are located side by side. Not interested in shopping so we decided to visit the miniature house. But who knows, it started raining even before we entered. So we got no choice but to head to the outlet store. As usual, we walked around quickly and waited for the rest in the van.
The last stop was massage at Sawadika. Something that we were looking forward to. The normal massage cost 20 SGD and aroma massage cost 30 SGD for 1.5 hours. Still consider cheap as compared to Singapore. We did the foot massage because my friend was having her monthly thing. The massage was not bad just that it’s a little painful when they massage my feet.
I wouldn’t recommend people to take up this tour because it’s simply boring and the tour guide was not up to standard despite working for 8 years. I would advise you to pay a little bit more to look out for other city tours from other agencies. That would probably give you a better experience.
After massage, we were all sent back to our resort. Our resort was the furthest so we were the last to alight. Turi Beach Resort is 1 hour away from the city. Yes, that far. We checked in to our hotel when we reached the resort. Our room (RM 403) was located on the same level as the lobby and we were lucky to get a good view of the sea. No trees blocking our view! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There’s a balcony outside the room with armed chairs for us to sit down and enjoy the view. I love the room. Very peaceful and relaxing.

After settling down, we headed to the Japanese Tepanyaki for dinner. We ordered the set menu which cost us 22++ SGD per pax. In total, there were 4 courses. A starter, a soup, a main and a dessert. It was good. My favourite course was the dessert. Yums. The only bad thing about the restaurant is there’s minimal light. I couldn’t see what I was eating. Got to take a photo with flesh to see what I was eating.
After dinner, we decided to take a stroll around the resort. While strolling, we discovered a bar with very nice sea view and relaxing ambiance. It’s located at the right side of the resort towards the end. We decided to chill there but there’s no more tables left. The staff was kind enough to get an additional table for us. We ordered Baileys and Cherry brandy. The average price was SGD 8.

We sat there for 1.5 hours before heading back to our room. I had a good chat with the girl 🙂 Thank you for the encouragement! Appreciate it much! That’s it for the day!
